£1M for Small Charities

The findings from our Benefact Group State of Civic Leadership Report 2026 have inspired us to do even more to support small charities.

The message is clear. Charities want to be listened to and trusted. They need flexible funding, wider support and opportunities to collaborate.

The Benefact Group Small Charity Impact Fund in partnership with the Fore

That’s why we’re giving £1 million to The Fore to help more small charities access the funding and support they need to thrive.

The Fore is the UK’s only venture philanthropy fund and has over a decade of experience helping small charities achieve extraordinary things. Through its established grant-making programme, it will use our donation to provide unrestricted, multi-year grants, alongside practical support, training and opportunities to build connections.

By creating the Benefact Group Small Charity Impact Fund in partnership with the Fore, we hope to help more small charities become stronger, more resilient and better equipped to make a lasting difference in their communities.

Who can apply?

The Fore supports exceptional small charities, CIOs, CICs (limited by guarantee) and Community Benefit Societies with an income under £500,000 in their previous financial year.

Its grants are designed to help organisations take the next step in their development, whether that’s growing their impact, building internal capacity, improving efficiency or becoming more sustainable.

The focus is on giving small charities the flexibility and support they need to become even better at what they do.

Grant size

The Fore offers unrestricted grants of up to £45,000, which can be spread over one to three years, alongside wraparound support and training.

The State of Civic Leadership 2026 Report

At Benefact Group, we believe everyone has a role to play in building a stronger society. Government cannot do everything. Charities should not be expected to carry an ever-growing burden. Businesses cannot solve social challenges on their own. But when organisations work together, extraordinary things become possible.

That is why we commissioned this report.

We wanted to understand what charity and civic leaders are experiencing, what is helping them succeed and what is holding them back.
